Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we’d be a good fit?

There’s not a way to know for sure. However, I’m happy to offer a 15 minute phone consultation and answer any questions you may have to help you feel comfortable. You have individual needs and strengths and my therapeutic techniques are personalized to you, strength-based, and solution-focused.

How often will we meet?

Typically sessions start out weekly for 55 minutes. Eventually you may feel comfortable meeting every other week instead and that’s a conversation we can have when needed.

Where will we meet for sessions?

Virtually! Anywhere that you feel comfortable and have privacy because out sessions will be via telehealth. I’ve met with clients from their home, car, private offices at work, and their backyard.

What can I expect in sessions?

Understanding, warmth, attentiveness, and often humor. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and person-centered techniques to provide a forum for you to feel comfortable, open, and ready to move forward in your life with mental health that feels positive and manageable.

Do you accept insurance and how will I know how much I’ll have to pay out of pocket?

I’m in-network with Anthem/BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and Husky. I obtain your insurance information in advance and do my best to verify what your out of pocket costs will be prior to your first appointment. If you are self-pay my rates are $200 for the initial intake appointment and $150 for each session afterward. If I am not in-network with your insurance provider I can provide you with a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company to apply the out of pocket costs towards your out of network deductible/payments.

How long have you been a therapist?

I’ve been a practicing clinician since 2014, became fully licensed as a professional counselor in 2016, and started my private practice in 2019. I have worked in non-profit adult outpatient clinics, as a crisis worker in the emergency department, and within the realm of private practice.

What clients do you most often work with?

I work exclusively with adults age 18+. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, depression, and life transitions. I also have a strong background in family conflict, domestic violence, anger management, and self-esteem.

Do you work with children, families, or couples?

No, I only work with adults in an individual capacity. However, I’m open to having a partner or family member join a session or two if it feels helpful to you.

Can I contact you outside of sessions?

I do not offer emergency or crisis support outside of sessions. If you are in immediate need of help or support you will be encouraged to call 911, 988 (suicide hotline), or 211 for community support. I am available via email, phone, and text for cancellations, re-schedules, or to schedule an extra appointment. If there are things you wish to share with me outside of session I encourage you to write them down or journal them to be discussed at the next session.
